Starting the year on a good note, we’ve achieved the WELL Health-Safety seal for six of our locations – Hub Anzac Square, Hub Customs House, Hub Collins Street, Hub Hyde Park, Hub Parliament Station, and Hub Southern Cross – with progress currently underway for the remaining locations to achieve the seal in 2022. This makes us the first coworking space to achieve the WELL Health-Safety Rating at any location in Australia.
The WELL Health-Safety Rating helps us form strategies to keep our spaces clean, provide essential health services, and communicate our health and safety efforts. These are all important factors in our ongoing endeavours to provide safe spaces to work from, and help our members love where they work.
What is the WELL Health-Safety Rating?
The WELL Health-Safety Rating is an evidence-based, third-party verified rating for buildings that produce operational policies, maintenance protocols, and emergency plans resulting from, and following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Developed and implemented by IWBI, an organisation responsible for overseeing framework for advancing health in buildings, the WELL Health-Safety Rating is designed to instil the utmost confidence and trust in those who come through a building or space. It does this by clearly communicating that evidence-based health and safety measures have been adopted, through the use of a WELL Health-Safety seal displayed in the space.
How did we achieve the WELL Health-Safety Rating?
We underwent a rigorous process to achieve our WELL Health-Safety Rating for six of our workspaces. We first shared an annual commitment to achieving the WELL Health-Safety Rating through selecting features of our spaces that best represent our efforts in providing safe workspaces.
These features include:
- Reducing surface contact
- Improving cleaning practices
- Developing an Emergency Preparedness Plan
- Assessing ventilation
- Promoting health and wellness
Our commitment and supporting documentation was reviewed by a third-party organisation, before our WELL Health-Safety seal was granted for the six locations.
Why is this important for Hub members, guests, and staff?
The COVID-19 pandemic has emphasised the importance of buildings and spaces in taking responsibility for supporting people’s health and safety, given that a large proportion of transmission occurs within indoor settings.
The WELL Health-Safety Rating came about as a result of a group of nearly 600 public health experts identifying a need for strategies to be implemented in buildings, to meet health and safety standards and protect people from the threat of infection.
Backed by a comprehensive review process and practical evidence-based strategies, the WELL Health-Safety Rating allows Hub to provide our members, guests, and staff with the confidence that they are entering a workspace actively implementing policies, protocols, and plans that promote the highest standard of health and safety.
